In my opinion you don’t need a good reason or any reason to start reading a book, it is worth it every time. But here come some if you need them.
In former times books were quite valuable. Every book needed to be handwritten and when you wanted a copy of a book it needed to be copied by hand word by word. So owning a book was like owning a small fortune. And reading one was an even rarer occasion because of the value and limited numbers of books. Only the invention of the book press by Johannes Gutenberg in the fifteenth century enabled the mass production of book copies and made reading books available for everyone. So isn’t it lucky that we all live in a time where a world of books is only one book store ore library away? So once books were quite valuable and are still if not in a different way.
Speaking of time there was a time when if people wanted to entertain them self after a bad day or just a boring day of normal life and to forget about reality all they had were books. No theater, no movies, no Instagram or YouTube or any social media to entertain yourself. All they had was books. So books put the movies and stories in their heads, let them dream of other worlds and adventures of heroes and fairy tales. And guess what the same thing still works in our time. Even better, with countless genres there is a nearly unlimited number of books for everyone. It doesn’t matter what kind of book you enjoy, fantasy, thriller or horror, of any genre there are too many books for you to ever read all of them in your life. Books can offer you a world of knowledge.
Before documentation and learning videos on YouTube there were big libraries storing thousand of books that were holding all the gathered knowledge in the world. The biggest and most famous library that has ever existed is the library of Alexandria. Unfortunately this library burned down to ashes and with it the biggest collection of books in the world. This was long time ago and nowadays books are also digital, creating a database of science books that is even greater than the library of Alexandria. You can use those books to study and learn about any subject you want. You can even use this gathered knowledge of science to progress further in science or invention. All of this possible through books.
You hate that your favorite TV show ended or you want to know more about a world from a movie? Believe me or not but there is a high chance that there are actually books written about the show or the world exactly for people like you that want to know more about it.
All of those reasons are great and yes maybe a little bit over exaggerated but honestly if you haven’t yet tried to read a book you should seriously give it a try and see what happens. Just pick a genre you like and supris eyour parents with it.
