Books for Boys

In my childhood one of my greatest joys was reading books, exploring new worlds, reliving wondrous adventures through the eyes of other children that live in magical mythical worlds or in scientific futures. It is said that nothing beats the fantasy of a child. And remembering how vividly I experienced all the stories I have read when I was young it is very easy to believe so. If you are still a child and you haven’t yet considered to read a book give it a try and don’t miss out on the experience. And of course if you are already older don’t feel left out. The following books are still very good and from time to time it is very nice for me to enjoy the simplicity of a children’s novel maybe you will as well.

  1. The famous Five (Enid Blyton)

This book serious is about four children and one dog that experience different kinds of adventures, solve crimes and fight bad people. Reading this always made me wanting to have adventures as well. From the father that is a crazy inventor to the dog that is sometimes even smarter than a human this book serious holds fantastic adventures that are nether unrealistic, so you always can imagine yourself fighting the crime or having great adventures yourself. With twenty one novels in the series there are a lot of adventures to relive.

2. The Underland Chronicles (Suzanne Collins)

In this book a young boy named Gregor falls through a tunnel into a world below the surface of the earth. There everything is a little bit different. Animals can talk and are bigger than humans. This wondrous world beyond the normal world has its own problems and Gregor ventures out to find a solution and explores this new and interesting but dangerous world. On his journey he needs to learn how to deal with his rage issues with almighty enemies and a not easy to handle princess. He finds a whole new home and a talking rat as a teacher and even a friend in a gigantic talking bat. But I don’t want to tell you everything. Give this very nice story a try, you wont regret it and you even might be surprised by the plots and turns.

3. The chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis)

This novel series tells the story of a magical land where human children become queens and kings. Hold captive by a freezing never ending winter this land is ruled by an evil ice cold queen. The children that enter this magical world with talking animals and plenty of dangerous enemies begin a long and exciting journey to meet the leader of the rebellion against the evil queen.. With more and even more wonderful creatures and stories these books take you away into a magical world. Even for older readers this book series holds many very interesting ethical question and a surprising resemblances to the biblical story.

4. The Tapestry (Neff Hendry)

One of the best stories of a magical school. In my opinion even better than Harry Potter. Explore with young Max MacDaniels a wonderful world of magic and demons. With the evil knocking at the door and ancient magic that could consume the world. Max and his friend David are the chosen ones that will decide the destiny of this magical world. With plots and turns that you really weren’t expecting this series holds everything that a good story needs. You can follow Max getting older and learning very important lessons for life while dealing with major threats. Of all the presented series so far, even though all of them are very good this is my absolute favorite.

5. Level 4 Kid City (Andreas Schlüter)

The book series by Andreas Schlüter is about science fiction. With this books he tries to show children the dangers of the internet and the future in science. You can read fantastic stories about computer games that suck children into their games or aliens that come to earth to conquer the planet. Or clones of the children that wake up 200 years later. His most famous book and one of the best books of the series is he book “Kid City”. Ben a young boy plays a computer game and suddenly all the people that are older than 15 disappear. Now it is left to the children to run the city and to find a way out of this strange reality.
