Grandmas’ homemade remedies

If you feel sick and you have run out of aspirin or whatever medication you think you need, or if you are simply tired of chemical solutions, well, here I am going to tell you about some fantastic homemade natural remedies that many grandmas from all around the world have suggested me.

  1. Don’t cough, smell onions! – Colombian and Spanish remedy
If you have troubles sleeping because of the bothersome night cough, both the Colombian and the Spanish grandmas suggest to cut a bunch of onions and keep it in your bedroom all night. Maybe you and your bedroom will not smell good in the morning, but at least you managed to sleep well!
  2. Kids friendly cure for cough – Italian remedy
For kids’ night cough is recommended by the Italian grandmas to warm up the cheese packaging paper and then dip it into oil. When the wrapping is ready, put it on the chest of your sleeping kid.
  3. Sore throat has never been so enjoyable – Laotian remedy
When you feel your throat itching, don’t waste a minute more and prepare this tasty Laotian remedy. Pour in a small coffee cap 2 little spoons of honey. Then, add to the mixture 10 drops of lemon juice. Now, warm it up in the microwave for 5 seconds and your delicious remedy is ready. But pay attention! If you drink it all at once you may not get the desired effect. That is why you have to sip it very slowly and savour it.
  4. …or so challenging – German and Estonian remedy
Less pleasant, but definitely effective to send away the throat itch it’s the gargling with salty water. Just put a handful of salt in a glass of water and try to gargle with it. If you succeed in winning this challenge, nothing will scare you anymore.
  5. Oil is always the best fluidifier – Italian remedy
If you suffer of constipation, a spoon of olive oil taken on an empty stomach will help you to unblock the situation
  6. Nausea, an impasse to overcome – Italian remedy
If you feel bad after a great lunch or dinner and nausea makes you restless, you must try the Italian way. Warm up a cup of water and pour it in some lemon juice. After you have drunk it you will be relieved…through the upper or through the lower way.
  7. Sleep well with cervical pain – Italian remedy
If you suffer of cervical pain you must use a very special pillow. Here’s how it is designed: an old pillowcase filled with cherry stones or, as an alternative, coarse salt. Sound sleep guaranteed!
  8. Oil and garlic are not only for a good pasta – Italian remedy
If you are suffering of earache you should turn on the stoves! Warm up a little oil and brown a slice of garlic in it. Remove the garlic and let the oil cool down a little. Then apply the oil in your ears and Bob’s your uncle!
